It makes sense for the company to call their product "Diamonds For Men" as a good majority of people associate diamonds with fame, success and money! Three things which many men want in their lives, the advert is trying to force you into believing that this product can bring you all of these things; it is something that has to be bought by any man.
As for the colours and lighting in the picture, the colours only really range from different tints as all colour has been removed from the image, this gives the picture a smooth; cool look, similar to how Apple make all of their Iphones shiny and black because people see it as being cool. Much of the light is focused on Josh Hartnett, as the advert wants to make him the centre of attention. Others around him are also lit up but the people gradually fade out into the distance, the more important people in the photo which the company wants you to see are more lit up than others.
